Getting found faster without tricks

SEO — July 2026 — 4 min read

Most local businesses aren’t invisible because Google doesn’t like them. They’re invisible because their website doesn’t answer anything.

I see it again and again: a great business, happy customers, and still a website dangling somewhere on page three. At some point someone did “something with SEO”, reports full of green dots came in, and then it all went quiet.

Start with the question, not the keyword

Nobody searches for your business name. People search for their problem: a leaking tap, getting a driving licence, having a logo made. Whoever gives the clearest answer wins. That means pages that explain in plain language what you do, where you do it and what it delivers. Exactly the way you’d explain it on the phone.

Speed is not a detail

A slow site loses visitors before they’ve read anything. And the fix is often surprisingly simple: fewer plugins, smaller images, no unnecessary tech. A cleanly built site loads in a fraction of a second, and Google notices that too.

Get the basics right

Clear page titles, logical headings, a sitemap and business details that match your Google listing. No magic, just tidy work. Good tech goes unnoticed; it simply lets your content do its job.

What you can do today

Read your own homepage as if you were a customer who doesn’t know your business. Do you understand within five seconds what’s on offer, and for whom? If not, that’s your first job. Everything else is refinement.

Unsure about your own site? I’m happy to take a look with you.
